About me

Catherine is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Laval University. In addition to having completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology at the Université de Montréal, she holds a doctorate in psychology (Ph.D., research profile) from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

As part of her postdoctoral fellowship, Catherine is interested in family-school partnerships (e.g., parental engagement, communication and quality of teacher-parent relationship during elementary school) and parental mental health. Her research interests also include family relationships, positive psychology, and human development.

With more than 11 years of experience in scientific research, she has developed a particular expertise in advanced statistical analysis to better understand the complexity of human psychology.

She has published more than 17 scientific articles and presented more than 60 at conferences in Canada, the United States and Europe (Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal). She has also taught lecturers at UQAM and given lectures to health and education professionals.

Catherine attaches great importance to the social impact of her research and her various involvements. Thus, she actively participates in knowledge mobilization (social media, podcasts, articles and interviews in traditional media). In 2020, she launched a podcast called Entropie Lab (15 episodes, over 6450 downloads). Since then, she has been invited to appear on several Quebec podcasts (e.g., Dose de Psy, Infuse magazine, La nature de l’enfance, Les lucioles) and has created the Instagram pages @douance.science (more than 7400 followers) and @catherine.psychology (more than 2600 followers). Her work has been presented in several traditional media, such as the programs Moteur de recherche and Place publique (ICI PREMIÈRE CBC Radio-Canada), L’Actualité and Métro.

Finally, Catherine was a member of the Fonds de recherche du Québec’s Intersectoral Student Committee from 2022 to 2024 and of the FRQ - secteur société et culture Program Committee in 2023-2024. In July 2024, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Fonds de recherche du Québec. She has the opportunity to bring a student perspective to the discussions through her involvement.

Her five main character strengths are honesty, love of learning, perseverance, courage and perspective!
