My research

My research program is in positive psychology and aims to study the factors promoting optimal functioning from childhood to adulthood. I have published several scientific papers on the role of parents in children’s development (e.g., academic skills, academic motivation, sleep). Furthermore, I am increasingly interested in mental health and interpersonal relationships in adulthood (e.g., passion, parental self-esteem, co-parenting relationship, teacher-parent relationships).

My work is grounded in a bioecological perspective by considering that human development is the result of constant and repeated interactions between the individual and their environment. Since my master’s studies, I have also developed an expertise in Self-Determination Theory, which provides a better understanding of the conditions necessary for people to thrive in various spheres of life.

Thesis: The Role of Parents in Youth Educational Pathways from Childhood to Adulthood: A Bioecological Perspective

Advisors: Marie-Hélène Véronneau, Professor, Université du Québec à Montréal Dale M. Stack, Professor, Concordia University

My dissertation, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ), focuses on the role of parents in the educational trajectory of young people from childhood to adulthood. My work has documented the links between positive family relationships (e.g., parental supervision) and various facets of academic development, such as academic motivation, achievement, and educational attainment in adulthood. It is now available on Archipel UQAM. My first thesis paper was published in European Journal of Psychology of Education and my second thesis is currently under review.

Msc in Psychology, Université de Montréal (2019)

Thesis: Longitudinal associations between maternal support for autonomy and mathematics performance in elementary school children: growth chart analyses

Advisor: Annie Bernier, Professor, Université de Montréal

My Masters thesis was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ), and investigated the links between early maternal autonomy support, general cognitive abilities, and mathematical development during elementary school. The thesis is available on Papyrus Université de Montréal, and was published in Learning and Individual Differences.
